Thomas University Pre-College Programs will hold workshops on Saturday, Feb. 19, in both Thomasville and Bainbridge for middle school and high school students and their parents who are interested in learning how to apply for college scholarships. Both workshops are free to attend.

The presenter will be Marianne Ragins, a bestselling author of “The Scholarship Monthly Planner,” “Senior Year Head Start” and “Winning Scholarships for College.” She won more than $400,000 in scholarship money toward her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Ragins uses anecdotal stories and humor to share her journey from small town dreamer to scholarship expert.

The workshops will cover topics including when and how to search for scholarships, whether community service is important for winning scholarships, how to write a winning scholarship essay, how to find local scholarships, and whether middle school students can win scholarships. At the events, attendees will be eligible for two scholarships.

The Thomasville workshop will be held from 10 a.m. to noon on Feb. 19 at the Thomas County Schools Auditorium, 200 N. Pinetree Blvd., Thomasville. There’s no cost to attend, but registration is required. Participants can register at www.scholarshipworkshop.com/thomas.

The Bainbridge workshop will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Feb. 19 at the Decatur County Coliseum, 600 S. Wheat Ave., Bainbridge. There’s no cost to attend, but registration is required. Participants can register at www.scholarshipworkshop.com/bainbridge.
