TU Adjunct Professor Assist with Disaster Response to Hurricane Helene
Post Published On:Dr. Bob Burgess is an adjunct professor with Thomas University in the Division of Education and serves with the Georgia State Defense Force (GSDF), i.e., Georgia’s state guard. The GSDF is one of three components of the Georgia Department of Defense, along with the Georgia Air National Guard and Georgia Army National Guard.
Dr. Burgess is a Major in the GSDF. He works in GSDF Headquarters, supporting the Commanding General, Deputy Commanding General, and Chief of Staff.
Over the past two weeks, GSDF Soldiers deployed to various areas across Georgia in response to Hurricane Helene. Immediately after the storm, the GSDF’s main focus was clearing the roads of fallen trees in Augusta, Valdosta, and surrounding communities.
