Despite a national trend of declining higher education enrollment, Thomas University reports a record enrollment for its fall semester of 1,444 students. For the fall of 2021, TU had 1,388 students and 1,222 students in the fall of 2020.
Arts for the Community at Thomas University’s (ACTU) popular Fridays at Noon series will feature the Lopez Tabor Duo performing on Sept. 23 at Thomasville First United Methodist Church.
Thomas University’s Pre-College Program helps area youth stay in school, graduate high school, and enter and graduate college. Two federally funded programs, through the Department of Education, fall under the Pre-College program umbrella: Educational Talent Search (ETS) and GEAR UP.
This year’s recipient of the Vulcan Materials Company Teaching Excellence Award at Thomas University was Leslie Cooper, who serves as the Program Director and the Clinical Coordinator of TU’s Bachelor of Science in Medical Laboratory Science.

Students who are awarded bachelor’s degrees may earn the distinction of graduating Summa Cum Laude (3.9 Cumulative Grade Point Average or higher), Magna Cum Laude (3.7 GPA or higher) or Cum Laude (3.5 GPA or higher). Associate of Arts honor graduates are those students who graduate with a Cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.5 or higher.

During its undergraduate Commencement ceremony held on Saturday, May 7, Thomas University’s President Dr. Andy Sheppard presented Elizabeth Harrell with the 2022 Professor of the Year Award.
Thomas University, an independent, not-for-profit, institution of higher education in Thomasville, Georgia with undergraduate and graduate programs invites applicants for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor and Program Director of our new P-12 Educational Leadership program housed in the Division of Education. The position requires teaching P-12 Educational Leadership courses at the Masters and Specialist levels, scholarship and service responsibilities, and program leadership. Reporting to the division chair, the positon is an academic, remote appointment with the start date of August 15, 2022.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Earned Ed.D. or Ph.D. in Educational Leadership or a closely related field.
• Minimum Of three years of administrative experience at P-12 school or district level.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating programs through leadership in program and curriculum development, program assessment, and accreditation.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with P-12 educational supervision, coaching/mentoring, performance evaluation, pedagogical best practices, and curriculum design and development.
• Expertise teaching online.
• Demonstrated scholarship in and service to K-12 teaching and learning and/or educational leadership.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit good judgment in making decisions concurrent with University policy.
• Ability to build relationships and work cooperatively with all constituents.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Successful experience working with diverse student populations.
• Comprehensive awareness of current issues facing P-12 education and/or leadership.
• Working knowledge of educational leadership standards, including national and Georgia-developed standards and accreditation.

Chris Carter is no stranger to playing football. The Imperial, California, native played on his high school football team before moving over to West Point to play on the prep school football team for a year and then play two years at the academy. On each team, Carter was an outstanding quarterback.
