Thomas University alumna Penny Griffin Gaskins recently took the reign Alpha Sigma Lambda Honor Society as the organization’s national president for the 2022-2024 term. Alpha Sigma Lambda is the honor society for non-traditional students that partners with colleges and universities to celebrate the scholarship and leadership of adult students in higher education.
On Feb. 25, Arts for the Community at Thomas University (ACTU) will present a performance by violinist Benjamin Sung as part of its Fridays at Noon series.
Thomas University Pre-College Programs will hold workshops on Saturday, Feb. 19, in both Thomasville and Bainbridge for middle school and high school students and their parents who are interested in learning how to apply for college scholarships. Both workshops are free to attend.

Thomas University held its annual Forbes Society Dinner honoring its supporters on Thursday, Feb. 3, at Glen Arven Country Club in Thomasville. At the dinner, TU presented four awards in recognition of the recipients’ service.
Award-winning poet Lauren K. Alleyne will discuss her poetry and the art of writing poetry at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 8, as part of the Georgia Poetry Circuit. Michi Meko’s works engage metaphorically and abstractly with the paradoxes and contradictions that have shaped his personal history and the shared history of Black Americans, particularly in the American South.

Arts for the Community at Thomas University (ACTU) will celebrate jazz music with its annual January Jazz performance at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 23, with a feature performance of the Tallahassee Community College at the Thomasville Center for the Arts at 600 E. Washington St.
Thomas University an independent, not-for-profit, institution of higher education with undergraduate and graduate programs in Thomasville, Georgia seeks applicants for a full-time Coordinator of Internships & Partnerships, beginning June 1, 2022. This position is responsible for coordinating early field and clinical experiences for Division of Education students and works in collaboration with the Division Chair and the Coordinator of B.S. and M.A.T. Initial Teaching Programs to develop mutually beneficial partnerships with PK-12 schools and community agencies.
TYPICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of a master’s degree (Ed.S, Ed.D, or Ph.D. preferred).
Demonstrated knowledge and experience with educational supervision and evaluation, teaching/learning processes, and instructional strategies.
More than three years of successful PK-12 school experience.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit good judgment in making decisions concurrent with University policy
Ability to build relationships and work cooperatively with all constituents
