TU Alumnus Becomes Police Chief

 

A Thomas University alumnus and student was appointed police chief of the Homerville Police Department in Georgia.

Keith Jackson was sworn in as the new police chief in September.

 

“As a Thomas University alumnus, it speaks volumes for the program because without a degree and without the help of Thomas University, I wouldn’t be able to be in a position as such. I’ve always told myself and continue to say knowledge is power but only if you utilize it,” he said.

Thomas University raised a record amount at its second annual Murder Mystery Dinner featuring the Syrup City Players on Thursday, October 5 at the Collins Place Venue in Cairo.

Alumni Tailgate Party

Alumni Tailgate Party

 

Thomas University alumni showed their full support for TU’s Military Transition Football Team’s first Homecoming game on November 4. Alumni, along with their families and friends, tailgated prior to kick-off. There were games, raffles and lunch, which was provided by Barberitos. Alumni received custom alumni t-shirts that were created for the tailgate attendees.

The Thomas University Military Transition Football Team picked up their first Sun Conference victory in program history by defeating the Warner Royals, 38-26, at Thomasville's Veteran's Memorial Stadium.

Women’s Soccer Team Make Tournament Run

 

The Thomas University Women's soccer team began their quest for their first Southern States Athletic Conference Soccer Championship (SSAC) tournament title when they advanced to the post season in November. The Night Hawks defeated Dalton State, 2-1, to advance to the Southern States Athletic Conference. The team fell short in the semi-finals to William Carey University. However, players won different awards, including SSAC Champion of Character.

Men’s Soccer Team Entered Post Season Play

The Men’s Soccer Team opened up their post season with a victory over Faulkner University. The Night Hawks advanced to the semi-final of the Southern States Athletic Conference Soccer Championship, but they couldn’t overcome Mobile University. The soccer team ended their season with a number of awards including SSAC Champion of Character.

Cross country teams stand out

Cross County Teams Stand Out

Men’s and Women’s Cross-country teams competed at the 50th Annual FSU XC Invite at Appalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, FL. The meet featured runners from collegiate levels of the NCAA along with NJCAA competitors.  Of the approximately 25 men's and 25 women's programs, Thomas had the only competitors representing a National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics school.

Swim Teams Earn Victories

The Thomas University Night Hawks Men's and Women's Swim Teams defeated Point University and South Georgia State College in Thomasville.  When combining the scores for both teams, Thomas beat South Georgia State 342.0 - 27.0 and won over Point 309.0 - 104.0.
