Literature and Media

The Literature and Media major is perfect for students seeking exciting careers in social media technology, editing, publishing, English education, and law, among other fields. Employers who work on the cutting-edge of technology seek candidates who possess creative talent, technological competence, and exceptional communication skills. Students in the Literature and Media program acquire these skills through practical experience in written communication, textual analysis, and digital content production.

The innovative curriculum allows students to choose between a focus on digital media communications or traditional literary study. Students interested in a more technical career will learn digital content skills applicable to social media, marketing, and innovative storytelling. Students interested in a career in education will learn approaches and techniques for teaching literature in digital and online environments.

The program provides several opportunities for professional and academic advancement. Students in the program will participate in the production of the Nighthawk Review, TU’s annual literary and arts journal. This journal gives students the opportunity to edit and publish their own creative work for a wider audience. Students can also become members of Sigma Tau Delta, the International English Honors Society, and attend conferences to present their literary scholarship. Students in this program work closely with faculty in producing a portfolio of professional work.
