Senior Staff Accountant
GENERAL DUTIES: The Senior Staff Accountant serves in the Business Office in support of the university mission.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
· Maintains financial records in compliance with all general accepted accepting principles and any policies/procedures rightfully imposed on the university by other entities.
· Reconciles accounts and resolves any identified variances.
· Assists with the annual budget preparation, monthly and periodic budget reports, and responds to inquiries on budget matters to budget managers.
· Monitors budget allocations, expenditures, fund balances and related financial activities for the purpose of ensuring that allocations are accurate, revenues are recorded, and expenses are within budget limits.
· Actively participates in the overall planning and operations of the university and the department by participating in meetings and seminars for increasing knowledge of required duties and responsibilities.
· Assists in the preparation of all periodic financial statements as required by the Board of Trustees, regulators, creditors, administrators, or university departments.
· Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Academic/Professional:
1. The Senior Staff Accountant must possess at least an earned baccalaureate in business administration with a major in accounting. Preference will be given to candidates with an active CPA license.
2. The Senior Staff Accountant should have at least two years relevant experience, and knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures. Preference will be given to candidates with higher education experience.
3. Proficient in Excel. Preference will be given to candidates proficient in Great Plains, and/or Jenzabar.

· This position must demonstrate the skills necessary to communicate effectively with college personnel and external agencies, and an ability to develop and communicate policies and ideas clearly, concisely and effectively in written and oral form, in both formal and informal settings.
· The Senior Staff Accountant must maintain a professional attitude and exhibit socially acceptable behavior while representing the university. This includes not only the physical campus, but also extends to the remote access environment.
