Post Published On:Arts for the Community at Thomasu University (ACTU) will present another Thomasville Live online performance by Duo Esplanade at noon Friday, May 8, at www.facebook.com/actu31792/live.
Thomasville Live is a partnership with the Thomasville Center for the Arts and is sponsored in part by the Thomasville Entertainment Foundation.
Praised for their “excellent intonation, fine timbral blend, impeccable articulation and brilliant technical command,” Duo Esplanade is a versatile chamber ensemble that offers musically and intellectually exciting performances. Founded in 2014 at the Boston Conservatory, this clarinet-flute duo engages audiences by highlighting the standard repertoire, exploring non-popularized works, arranging music traditionally performed by various instruments, collaborating with other musicians, and expanding the literature for clarinet and flute by commissioning new pieces.
Described as a “born performer with rare ability to express the beauty and soulfulness of the composer’s music,” clarinetist Katsuya Yuasa is in demand as a concert soloist, recitalist and chamber musician in the United States, Europe, South America and Asia. Originally from Kobe, Japan, he is presently the International Concert Artist of Mu Phi Epsilon, Piatigorsky Foundation Artist, and clarinet faculty at Florida A&M University. An inventive musician and teacher, Yuasa enjoys an eclectic schedule with a unique approach and explores a wide repertoire of classical, jazz, ethnic, pop, rock and contemporary music.
Flutist Ayça Çetin has performed in countries including Bulgaria, England, Italy, Kosovo, Turkey and throughout the United States. Praised by Leone Buyse, former principal flutist of Boston Symphony Orchestra with “excellent intonation, fine timbral blend, impeccable articulation, brilliant technical command, and very personal musical language,” she continues to share her passion in performing, commissioning new music and teaching.
An avid soloist and chamber musician, Çetin has made appearances at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, Boston Symphony Hall, Boston Public Library, Istanbul Fulya Sanat Hall, and at national and international festivals and conventions.
The livestream will be available at noon Friday at www.facebook.com/actu31792/live. Previous Thomasville Live videos are also available here. No Facebook account is required to view.
