Donors give in a myriad of ways that best matches their interest. To help meet that expectation, the university offers several ways that an interested donor may participate annually.
Thomas University Fund
A gift to the Thomas University Fund provides a powerful source of unrestricted funds supporting many types of programs across Thomas University:
In an effort to support the Thomas University Fund there are two appeals that are conducted annually:
Dining for Education–DFE is Thomas University’s signature, community event that provides funds for scholarships. On March 25, 2024, the planning committee, made up of community members will host “Supper in the South” a delicious and creative pick-up dinner at Sass! Restaurant raising money for scholarships to deserving students.
Direct Mail/Themed Appeal– at the end of each fiscal year and calendar year, Thomas University conducts a direct mail campaign centered around a theme. (PDF of Direct Mail Because You Give)
Gifts to the Thomas University Fund may be made year-round.
Grady County Scholarships
Each year, TU Alumnus and supporters in Grady County host a fun-filled, themed evening generating resources for Grady County Scholarships. This event provides enjoyable entertainment and fellowship as they unite together to benefit TU students from Grady County.
This year’s event was held on October 3, 2024 at Collins Place Venue in Cairo. Special thanks to Red Clay Serenade for a great performance!
Many businesses in our community support our athletic programs through our banner sponsorship program conducted each summer. Sponsorships provide support for athletic equipment, supplies and scholarships and offer businesses 4 x 8 foot banners to hang at our basketball gymnasium and soccer, baseball, and softball fields.
Student Emergency Fund
Emergencies happen, but they shouldn’t prevent a student from continuing his or her educational journey. That’s why TU has the Student Emergency Fund, which provides limited, one-time financial assistance to enrolled students who are unable to meet immediate, essential expenses because of temporary hardship related to an emergency situation.
Employee Drive
The TU employee drive is conducted each year during the first two weeks of April. Employees can give a one-time gift or gift through payroll deductions. In 2023, 71 percent of employees provided support to TU students and programs.
Giving Tuesday
TU Alumni have the opportunity to support their Alma Mater on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving on National Giving Tuesday. Proceeds from the day boost the Student Emergency Fund or their program choice.
