Wyche named Thomas University Cheer coach
Post Published On:Thomas University officials recently announced the hiring of Dakotah Wyche of Thomasville as coach of the university’s new Cheer Team.
“Being named TU Cheer coach is amazing to me,” she said. “I gain satisfaction from helping cheerleaders develop and achieve their goals. This will be an opportunity to make a difference and see first-hand the impact that I can make in someone’s life. Working with cheerleaders who are eager to learn, work hard and gain skills gives coaching a real sense of purpose.”
Wyche began cheering when she was 4 years old. Her cheer career continued through her time as a student at Thomas County Central High School, where she was a member of the competition cheerleading team all four years, including serving as captain. During that time, Wyche was also a member of several travel cheer teams, including Crawford Cheer Corner for four years, Fusion All-Stars for two years and Xtreme Xplosion for three years. Twice she was named an All-American Cheerleader at Universal Cheerleaders Association Camp.
Wyche graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science Degree in kinesiology.
“My hopes and plans for this new cheer team are to improve each cheerleader’s confidence, individual skills and awareness of their role on the team,” she said. “Cheerleading plays an important role in school spirit, maintaining positive energy and keeping the school atmosphere fun and exciting.”
TU’s new Cheer team will begin fall 2023. For more information, contact Wyche at dwyche@thomasu.edu.
